Prepare to Game with the Dead

Prepare to Game with the Dead

Rick crawling away from zombies in the Walking Dead

By now, everyone?s probably heard about The Walking Dead, if you haven?t then you should probably get out from under that rock you call your home.

For those who do live under a rock, here?s a quick info plug. The Walking Dead started off as a comic book, which was first issued in October, 2003 by Robert Kirkman. The comic series follows?Rick Grimes, his family and other characters as they fight to survive the onslaught of a zombie apocalypse. On Halloween of 2010, AMC released a television series based on the ongoing comic book, also titled the Walking Dead.

Great, consider yourselves filled in. Now that we have all that stuff out of the way we can get to the juicy news! Brace yourselves!

Wait for it? wait for it. The Walking Dead will soon be a video game. Yes you heard us correctly, um? or read it correctly anyways.

The folks at Telltale Games (who are developing the title) gave a brief synopsis on the five-part episodic game.

?The game will follow a new group of survivors as they struggle to flee the horror of Atlanta and the surrounding communities which have been consumed by the undead. The Walking Dead offers players the chance to experience the very first days of the apocalypse, meet new people unique to the game, and participate directly in events that have taken place in the comic books.?

Players will take control of a convict named Lee who, by blind fate, is set free from his bonds. In the beginning of the game, Lee is being transported to prison but the auto transporting him crashes, thanks to the zombie outbreak, and he gets his freedom back. Throughout his journey, Lee will meet characters unique to the Walking Dead video game, such as a little girl named Clementine who has been orphaned by the outbreak. Lee will also meet characters from the Walking Dead universe like Hershel?and Glen, who appear in both the comic series and the AMC television adaptation.

The Walking Dead is due out this spring on Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network and will be released in five separate episodes.

We?re salivating at the mouth just thinking about the game?s potential, and it?s likely that the gaming community, Walking Dead fans and zombie enthusiasts alike will join in our merriment.

As an added bonus, we?ll now leave you with some zombie-infested screens that you can sink your teeth into.?Ha! See what we did there?
