Caption Contest: Eric Schmidt does 'Gangnam Style' with PSY

Caption contest Eric Schmidt

Did you honestly think Eric Schmidt went all the way to Seoul just to launch the Nexus 7 for South Korea, hang out with Samsung's JK Shin and moan about the patent war with Apple? Of course not. The Google chairman also found some time to learn the legendary "invisible horse" dance with PSY, the charismatic oppan in the Korean chart-topper Gangnam Style. While Google Korea was happy to supply a few photos, the only video we could dig up was a surprisingly short one hosted by Daum -- it's embedded right after the break.

Brian: "Man, not being the CEO of a multinational corporation sure is hard work."

Terrence: "I see you are a fellow disciple of the Carlton Banks school of dance."

Don: "Gangnam Style, 2012-2012."

Billy: "This song is really about the time I set my socks on fire. I see you still have yours. One moment."

Edgar: "Hm... I think we forgot the horse."

Richard Lai: "PSY, please Google+ me when this comes out on Dance Central."

Dan: "Doenjang Girls, would you like to buy a Nexus 7? It's wayyy more expensive than a latté."

Darren: "Soooo glad this guy put this video on YouTube and not Vimeo. $$$$$$$$"

Jon Fingas: "Oppan Google sty-- no, even I can't go that far."

Activist Post: 5 Foods NOT to Eat While Sick or Battling a Cold

Elizabeth Renter
Activist Post

It?s almost that time of year, where we start passing around colds like we pass around the holiday dishes. While there are numerous sources out there for natural cold remedies (garlic, ginger, hydration, etc.), it?s also good to know which foods to avoid while sick or battling a cold. By eliminating these foods, while hopefully consuming immune-boosting foods, you can recover more quickly and reduce the severity of your symptoms.

1. Alcohol

Alcohol weakens your immune system and dehydrates you. Both of these can make your colds more miserable and leave you with an even worse morning. Grandma?s hot toddy might clear things up for a short time, but take it easy and don?t overdo it. If you come down with a cold, steer clear of most alcohol in order to keep your body optimally hydrated and your immune system functioning on high.

2. Dairy Products

Dairy products may be on the fence (in small portions), as consuming them may not aggravate some while doing so to others. Dairy products can increase mucus production, and mucus is one thing you don?t need more of when you are sick. If ice cream feels good on your throat, opt for a different frozen dessert like frozen fruit bars. These will numb your scratchy throat and deliver some useful vitamin C.

3. Juice Drinks

If you enjoy juicing and make your own 100% juices?by all means, drink them! But if you reach for your run-of-the-mill orange juice when you get a cold, you?d be better off without. Average juices are loaded with extra sugar and that sugar can reduce the ability of white blood cells to fight illness. Any benefits you might get from the vitamin c are nullified by the sugar inside.

What should also be pointed out from avoiding juices is: avoid sugar.

4. Fried Foods

Stay away from excess fats when you are sick. This goes for processed snacks and fried foods. Foods high in fat produce inflammation and inflammation produces a less active immune system.

5. Fast Food and Processed Foods

Surprise, surprise ? it should be most obvious to steer clear of fast food and processed foods while sick. Fast food and most processed foods are void of nutritional value; that is, they bring hardly anything to the table in terms of boosting the immune system or amplifying your health. Not only are much of these foods made from genetically modified foods, but they also contain a slew of immune-suppressing ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, MSG, artificial colors, FD&C Red #40, dimethylpolysiloxane, and much more. And despite some irresponsible hospitals serving up McDonald?s to their sick patients, that doesn?t mean these foods are any more valuable.

So this is how to prevent a cold: avoids those foods that make you sick and consume those foods that boost your immune system. When you are sick?stick with a diet of whole, fresh foods and plenty of liquids. Drink tea, eat soup, use spices like turmeric, ginger, and garlic, consume some honey, and nurse yourself back to health naturally. Generally, the worst symptoms of a cold will only last a few days when you have a high functioning immune system. So, treat your whole body with nutrition and not just your runny nose with an over-the-counter drug.

Iran says "terrorist sect" attacked its diplomat in New York

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Iran blamed on Thursday "a terrorist sect" for accosting a senior Iranian diplomat in New York and condemned the United States for deciding to remove the group, the Mujahadin-e Khalq (MEK), from a U.S. list of foreign terrorist organizations.

New York police said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was verbally abused, pushed and shoved by "anti-regime" protesters on the street as he walked a few blocks from the headquarters of the United Nations on Wednesday.

He became separated from members of his party traveling by car in a protected motorcade on Wednesday, New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday.

Iranian officials said the incident took place during a protest against Iran's government organized by the Iranian dissident group MEK. The protest was near the U.N. headquarters in Manhattan.

The United States said last week the MEK would be removed from its list of foreign terrorist organizations.

Mehmanparast himself on Wednesday had condemned the U.S. move on the MEK.

"There was an attack by MEK sect members on Mr. Ramin Mehmanparast," said Alireza Miryusefi, spokesman for Iran's U.N. mission. "MEK is going to be delisted from U.S. terrorist groups and you can expect such aggressive behavior of a terrorist sect. It would be another wrong step by the U.S. administration."

"The responsibility of protecting all diplomats is on behalf of the government of the USA," he said.

The New York police characterized the incident involving Mehmanparast differently. There were no arrests.

"He was verbally accosted by anti-regime protesters who apparently recognized him," Browne said. "While there was some pushing and shoving, we are not aware of any assault involved, despite one protester's claim to have punched the diplomat in the stomach."

"Uniformed NYPD officers responded and escorted Mr. Mehmanparast away from the crowd and turned him over to NYPD Intelligence Divisions' detectives, who along with the Secret Service and State Department provide security for visiting dignitaries during the U.N. General Assembly," he said.

The MEK, also known as the People's Mujahideen Organization of Iran, calls for the overthrow of Iran's clerical leaders and fought alongside Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's forces in the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. It also led a guerrilla campaign against the U.S.-backed shah of Iran during the 1970s, including attacks on American targets.

The U.S. decision came after years of intense lobbying by the MEK, which had seen many of its members stranded in Iraq even as the group fell out of Baghdad's favor after Saddam's downfall.

The United States added the MEK to its list of foreign terrorist organizations in 1997. But the group has since said it renounced violence and mounted a vigorous legal and public relations campaign to have the designation dropped, including endorsements by prominent former U.S. public officials.

Mozilla Persona sign-in launches in beta, skips the social networking ball and chain (video)

Mozilla Persona signins launch in beta, skip the social networking ball and chain

We all know those web pages where the only alternative to a site-specific login is a social networking account. That's not very reassuring for anyone skittish about linking their commentary to a Facebook account relatives might see, if they're even willing to join a social network in the first place. Mozilla has been aware of that hesitation long enough to have just released its long-in-development Persona sign-in service as a beta. Although it has the same kind of simple approach to a login as a Facebook or Twitter pop-up window, Persona's emphasis is on privacy: it stops paying attention the moment credentials go through, keeping any diatribes or subscription details from landing in social streams or central databases. Users don't have to play a rousing game of guess-the-username, either, as they just need to sign in with one or more familiar e-mail addresses and a single password. Persona faces an uphill battle in getting web developer adoption when the establishment sign-in services are open to hundreds of millions of internet citizens, but it does have The Times' online crossword section, OpenPhoto and Voost as early poster children -- and anything that lets the privacy-minded join the party has our vote.

Direct Line IPO may be marred by industry probe

* OFT to decide on anti-trust probe Friday - spokesman

* Direct Line expected to open order book Friday

LONDON, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Britain's consumer watchdog

could on Friday call on competition regulators to probe the

motor insurance market just as its biggest player, Direct Line,

enters a critical phase in its planned stock market listing,

London's biggest in over a year.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT), which in May provisionally

recommended the industry be investigated on the grounds that

"dysfunctional" competition forces up the cost of car insurance,

will make a final decision on Friday, a spokesman said.

The watchdog's provisional recommendations for an

investigation by the Competition Commission are usually followed

by a formal referral.

"In most cases where there has been a provisional decision,

this has resulted in a reference," the OFT spokesman said.

The OFT's decision is expected to come as Direct Line begins

accepting investor orders for its shares in an initial public

offering that is likely to value the company at about 2.5

billion pounds ($4.1 billion).

Direct Line announced its intention to float on Sept. 14,

and would under a typical timetable be expected to open its

order book within two weeks.

Direct Line's owner, Royal Bank of Scotland, is

selling the business at European regulators' request to offset

government support it received in the 2008 crisis which left it

82 percent state-owned.

Direct Line and RBS declined to comment.

Analysts have said a competition probe could make it more

difficult for motor insurers to boost their profits through fees

from ancillary services such as the provision of replacement

vehicles.

Direct Line, which also trades under the Churchill and

Privilege brands, is Britain's biggest motor insurer, covering

about one in three cars on the country's roads.
