Latest health reports submitted by the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) are primarily focusing upon the facts of disturbed health of innocent Wittenoom kids, who are forced to face death sentence after playing in asbestos tailings.
Yes, the news is talking about all those kids, who have unfortunately spent their childhoods being exposed to asbestos. Health officials are tensed to learn that the innocent ones either have started developing several cancer types or are reporting death at a higher rate as compared to the average population.
It is really not easy to forget that the mining business of the deadly blue asbestos was ceased at Wittenoom, 1106km north of Perth, in 1966 after health officials confirmed the deadly affect (like malignant mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and other serious diseases) of the airborne fibres in dust from mining operations.
Many studies have already showcased the risks of asbestos related diseases caused by occupational asbestos exposure among men but it is for the first time that some findings have bought the health effects of asbestos upon innocent children and their lives.
Published in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine, the study has revealed that Wittenoom girls in their teen (up to the age of 15), have been found at higher risks of developing mesothelioma, ovarian and brain cancers along with reporting increased death rates too.
On the other hand, boys have reported higher risks of mesothelioma, leukaemia, prostate, brain and colorectal cancer, diseases of the circulatory and nervous system and excessive death rates.
