Many families have questions about students? computer needs and I?m happy to try and answer them. Please email me at pburke@marlboroschool.net or call me at 275-2809.? More and more students are choosing to type their work, but handwritten work is still accepted, talk to the teachers if you?re worried about this.
For typing documents, students in the upper grades all have Google Docs accounts. Those who have Internet access at home can access their accounts there to work on papers. If you do not have internet at home, a flash drive is the best choice for bringing files home and back to school. If your student uses Microsoft Word, it?s easiest for them to use Word here at school. Each classroom has a few computers with Word and they should let me know that they need to use these. If your student uses a different word processing software at home, I can help them work this out.
No student should feel like they can?t get their work done because of computer issues. Please speak to me if your child is having trouble!
If your child brings?to school?a laptop, iTouch or any other device that can be used to access the internet, it must be registered with me. Laptops are welcome, though we have enough computers for all our students. We do not provide tech support or software for personal computers. One exception to this is Type to Learn. We have a?license?that allows us to install this on family computers if your child would like to practice typing at home.
Internet use at school is restricted to school work only. Checking email, Facebook, chat, etc. are not allowed. We appreciate your understanding as we try to provide a focused, technology-rich, educational environment for our students.
