An investigation is under way into alleged historic child abuse at a house in south west London.
The Metropolitan Police announced yesterday it is revisiting allegations of offences that are said to have taken place at the Elm Guest House in Rocks Lane, Barnes in the early 1980s.
Officers working in Operation Fernbridge are acting on information passed to police by the Labour MP Tom Watson, Scotland Yard said.
The abuse claims are not linked with the current occupants of the address.
In a statement posted on his website, Mr Watson appealed for witnesses to come forward and help with the investigation, which was called Operation Fairbank before officially becoming a criminal matter.
He said: ?This new criminal investigation is welcome news.
He said:?I am confident that the Operation Fairbank team are committed to a thorough investigation that leaves no stone left unturned.
?As they get nearer the truth it is vital they are given the time and space to conduct the investigation without interference.
?I urge any witnesses or victims to come forward if they think they can help with the inquiry.
?No matter what has happened in the past, now is the time for your voice to be heard.?
The investigation will be led by the Child Abuse Investigation Command.
Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 020 7161 0500.
