It's a curious thing that the most popular devices in the world right now are also, arguably, the best designed. Apple essentially made the Lamborghini of phones ubiquitous, but its lustre is diminishing for several reasons. Among them is the vastly improved ability of small teams to insert themselves into the product creation process. The long tail (and haute couture) is coming to manufacturing.
